Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 3 Tent
I’ve been looking for a new tent. It seems like I always need a new tent. I guess its just something with being a gear junkie that I always look for reasons to get new gear. Well, it happened again and I bought one this weekend.

Sunday I went to REI with my Finace and checked out the Mountain Hardware Lightpath 3 tent. The tent is a 3 person backpacking tent but will be perfect for the two of us and our gear. I hadn’t seen one set up before, so I asked one of the salespeople if I could set up the tent right there in the store. The girl said “sure, go ahead and play with it.” Now that is awesome customer service and dedication to your industry. Allowing potential customers to set up tents or play with gear inside your store is a great way to push them towards the checkout counter.
Anyway, I set the tent up in store and got in and laid down. It is a perfect fit. As you can see in the picture, the bottom angles out towards the top and makes for a coffin type of design. This gives more room around the waist and head areas. The ceiling also slopes up and allows for you to be able to sit up and move around with no problems.
I’m really looking forward to getting this tent out in the woods and giving it some use. The tent was on sale at REI, another reason that I bought it, but it seems like it will fit our needs perfectly. I also read a lot of reviews about it and everything seemed pretty positive. With only two incredibly light poles, the tent comes in at just over 5 pounds, but it sure does not seem like it. You can even drop the weight a lot if you fast pitch it, using only the footprint, rain fly, and poles. The tent does not come with the footprint (ground tarp), so you will need to pick that up, and that will run you another $40, but worth it rather than making your own out of tyvek.
So now that I’ve got this Mountain Hardware Lightpath 3 tent, it will be time to get rid of my 1 man backpacking tent, the Kelty Crestone 1 Justice League: The New Frontier Gettin’ It release The Italian Job film . A final point that encouraged the purchase is that the packed weight of the Lightpath is only a little more than the Crestone, so taking the Lightpath for just myself will not be a big deal, and I will sleep like a king inside! Once I get the tent out and set up for a trip, I’ll take some pictures to put up.
