Hiking around the Garden of the Gods, Colorado
Having briefly visited the Garden of the Gods once before on my way to Philmont Scout Ranch, I knew I wanted to return one day for more exploring and hiking. Well, we got the chance to do that on our recent mini-honeymoon trip to Colorado. Staying right outside of Denver allowed us the chance to easily visit different cities and check out different sights including the Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak.
If you don’t know about the Garden of the Gods, it is a public park in Colorado Springs which features some of the most spectacular red rock formations anywhere. Throughout the park, there are numerous hiking and walking trails, mountain bike trails, and horseback riding trails. Also, because of the crazy rock formations, you’ll find lots of places to rock climb within the park, but be sure to get your permit and have the right equipment before doing so! While in the park on a Monday, we saw at least 4 different groups of people climbing. You can pick up your climbing permit at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center.
