Just a quick note for this morning. This website, TheGearHouse, is run off of the blogging platform Wordpress. The theme that I was using was recently re-released as an updated version that offered much more usability and customization. Over the weekend I upgraded and I am working on fixing any issues and getting everything looking properly. If you happen to catch any problems, let me know!
Also, Wordpress released a new version of their blogging software this morning, version 2.6, so I will be upgrading this website as well as my others throughout the next week. This should not make any changes to what you all see, but it will affect the backend of the site and the tools I use to manage it!
You will notice that we also a lot more advertising slots on the right sidebars; if you would be interested in advertising your website or business there, please leave a comment and I will contact you!
Sorry for the slow posting the last couple weeks - I have been busy working on some other projects and taking some time off.
Last weekend (not July 4th weekend), I spent with my fiance and that Saturday we were at Lake Anna, VA all day riding jet skis and having a good time. Then this past weekend she came up here for the weekend and we enjoyed the long July 4th weekend together. I managed to get some work done on my other blog and on my ebay business; but didn’t make it to TheGearHouse. I’ll be doing some updating on Friday so look out!
I commissioned the help of a logo designer to help me come up with a new logo for TheGearHouse. This logo is going to be used on different print items (t-shirts, business cards, etc) as well as on the internet on the website, in video reviews, and images.
What do you think?

I am happy to announce that I have become a partner with New England Ropes to start selling some of the highest quality rock climbing ropes available. They will be offered both on TheGearHouse as well as on eBay. Look out for more updates coming soon as well as reviews of the different ropes. If you have a need for a climbing rope, drop us a line and we can probably get it for you at a great price!
I have not placed our first order yet so, if there is something specific you are looking for (dynamic or static, 50 or 60 meter, or different diameter), contact us.
Just a little update that I am working on some new posts as well as working on getting the new advertising platform ironed out. If you happen to see different ads for Backcountry, REI, or other companies pop up inline with the posts or anywhere else on the site, do not be alarmed - this is just a test. Once I get it all worked out, the ads will become more permanent and we will also begin looking for paying advertisers for TheGearHouse!
Also, be on the watch for some new posts coming in relation to some gear reviews, some gear photos, and maybe even a video!
Just a quick update that I have some new gear on the way. I ordered some VaporWick shirts from The North Face off of Moosejaw as well as got a GSI Outdoor Haulite Boiler. On top of these, I picked up a couple books over the weekend: Whitewater Rafting: An Introductory Guide and The Wildflowers of the Appalachian Trail. Both are currently on Amazon and eBay, and look for them to be added into the gear area of TheGearHouse soon.
Have you picked up any new gear? With the summer quickly approaching, you should be finding your local retailers and outfitters putting winter gear and clothing on sale. One big clearance that is currently running is with Hudson Trail Outfitters. If you are in the MD, VA, or PA area, you probably have heard of them. They have an outlet store in Gaithersburg, MD but also have all their outlet items online.
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by! Today marks the official launch of TheGearHouse.com. After much work customizing the Wordpress theme provided by Adii, we are ready to get things moving and providing great content to you all!
What is TheGearHouse?
TheGearHouse is going to focus on providing information on outdoor gear that we all love to use. On top of that, we will be providing you with gear reviews, helpful tips, trail reviews, amazing outdoor pictures, a spot to buy the gear we review, utralight gear options, and much more.
Basically, TheGearHouse.com is going to be a one stop shop for all the outdoor gear information that you will need, including a place to purchase it right here!
Who runs TheGearHouse?
For more information about the founder of TheGearHouse, myself, check out this post I did earlier during the soft launch of the site.
Are you an outdoor person? Would you be interested in writing about your adventures?
I am currently in a search for people that would be interested in writing reviews of the gear they use, the trails they hike, and helpful outdoor tips. If so, please get in contact with me!
Finally, be sure to subscribe to our RSS Feed so that you can stay up to date on what is going on at TheGearHouse!
It had been a while since I worked on this site and getting the theme ready to launch, but I have reached the point where I am almost ready to launch. I have a couple customization type fixes to make and then a few things to add within a couple different pages. At that point, I will be ready to launch!
Check back next week for fresh content!
Hello everyone! My name is Chris Pund and I am an outdoor enthusiast much like many of you, but I am also a serial internet entrepreneur. For those of you who are not up to the latest business lingo, that means I like to start internet businesses continuously and not stop.
My outdoor hobbies include hiking/backpacking, rock climbing, camping, and I am just starting to get into some canoing. I look forward to being able to produce quality content for the readers of TheGearHouse and help to expand your knowledge on all topics related to the outdoors. I got my love of the outdoors through the Boy Scouts of America program like many of you probably did. For those interested, I am an Eagle Scout (received it on Feb. 18, 2004).
The other future focus for TheGearHouse is for it to be a place for you to come to read about a piece of gear and then go buy it in our store. This is going to be a ways down the road, but it will be coming some time soon, so keep an eye out.
With that all being said, I do not want to bore you all too much about me or about what the site will hopefully grow into…but if you are interested in that, check out the about page.
Now, get to reading!

With any luck, we will be able to accomplish all of that and make this website the best that it can be.
