is upon us, it is a good time to do a gear check to see what you’ve got and what you need to pick up. One of the best parts of about summer trips is the wide range of activities and places you can go.

If you’re like me, you enjoy the chance to just sit around a camp or along a trail, look out over a great view, and just relax. Enjoying the beauty of the landscape and area that you’re in is all part of the trip. So, to help you relax and have a great trip, I’ve put together a list of some items that I think are pretty good picks to take with you on any trip.

Eagle’s Nest Outfitters Hammock

What better way to relax on a camping or backpacking trip then to string up a hammock between a couple trees and just let the breeze rock you? The Eagle’s Nest Outfitters (ENO) hammocks are absolutely top of the line products. They come in either a SingleNest (1 person) or DoubleNest (2 person) and in a huge variety of colors. For about $50 you can be set for many years to come when you want to get out and relax! Check them out today. There are also many other brands that are great like Trek Light Gear and Hennessey Hammocks.

Another great ENO product to take with you on a summer trip is the ENO DryFly. Being easy to set up and take down, plus offering many different setup options, this is a great alternative to a tent or a normal tarp. Being the summer and the weather probably being wonderful (just hopefully not too buggy), sleeping out of a tent and just under a tarp is a great way to spend the night. If it’s clear sky’s with no chance of rain, then forget the tarp and just sleep under the stars!

Looking to make some sweets while your out camping with the family? Check out the Ice Cream ball from Industrial Revolution. Add sugar, ice, flavoring, and whatever else the directions tell you, toss, kick or otherwise shake the ice cream ball and in just a short amount of time, you’ve got ice cream! I’ve heard mixed reviews about the ice cream ball and the end product, but for a fun way to pass some times with the kids, it’s worth the ~$25 price tag plus ingredients.

Nite Ize Flashlight Disc230988 Touch of Evil full movie Countess Dracula ipod

County Hospital video Who does not love a chance to throw a frisbee around camp? An easy toy to carry and great to entertain the kids, a frisbee is a great camping toy to take with you for some fun on a trip. If you like tossing the disc during the day, then you’d probably enjoy it just as much at night with the Nite Ize Flashlight Disc that lights up so that you can see it. A great option for some after dinner fun! Available at REI for $22.00.

Obviously there are tons of great ideas out there and these are just a couple quick ones. Leave some comments with your favorite piece of gear to take with you during a summer trip to help you relax!

Eagle Nest Outfitter Hammocks Coming to The Gear House!

.!.

A couple weeks ago I wrote about my reflections on Gauley Fest. One of the points that I made was that I got asked a lot of questions about gear that people were looking for, one of those products was hammocks. Well, the good folks at Eagle Nest Outfitters got wind of the post through a Google Alert and reached out to me.

After emailing back and forth with one of their people, I got a dealer account established with the company and placed my first order. With the products set to arrive tomorrow, I am excited to start offering their products through the new TheGearHouse store that should be launching next week. I’ll also be selling them through eBay as well.

In my first order, I have mostly hammocks and straps coming but I also have one of the DryFly Tarps. The hammocks and other gear are great for backpacking, camping, or just taking on a day trip to relax with! Once I get a chance to test them out (hopefully next weekend) I’ll post up some reviews, pictures, and videos.
